Diploma of Teaching (Secondary Art), Bachelor of Education, HH Diploma (Art Therapy)

In 2009 I became a widow and single parent, after 22 years of marriage. One tragic event changed my life overnight. My husband lost his battle with depression and I started my own battle - 'How to live on without him'.

It made me look at life in a whole new way. I had to make some really big decisions and I had to consider the needs of my children as we all grieved.

One day at a time I learned how to function in my new reality. I also learned a lot about myself and how my needs mattered. To earn a living and be a good mum, I discovered I needed to schedule in time to nurture my soul. Art has always been a natural part of my life…but suddenly, during this time, it became my therapy.

It has been quite a journey!

In the years that followed, it became very obvious to me that I wanted to help others overcome trauma by sharing what I know about the power of Art.

I created Studio Yellow because I know how much Art helps people process their feelings and because it’s also a lot of fun, it brings joy back into our daily lives.

After 30 years of teaching Art to students in both State and Independent Schools, I am now passionate about teaching adults, not only how to make art, but more importantly WHY to make art. During my career, I have learned so much from the children and teenagers in my classes. I love watching them discover “I can do it” and I am always amazed by the endless possibilities and hours of enjoyment that can come from some basic materials and equipment when mixed with a little know-how. I find it incredibly sad to see so much of our innate creative self-expression falls by the wayside as we grow up so I encourage everyone I meet to engage in some form of Art-making.

I know life gets busy but, as adults, if we put off doing the things we love it can have a significant impact on our health and wellbeing.

I help adults find their creative spark and discover who they are. I believe we all should be sketching and painting, printing, or sculpting our way toward fulfillment. Through Art-making, we can connect with our thoughts or take a break from our ‘work’ and find peace.

Art really is for everyone!

I was once told, "Everyone needs someone to love, something to do and something to look forward to." When you hit a rough patch in your life this absolutely true so I hope that you will join me at Studio Yellow so with my help you to achieve all three,

“I’ve learned so much. These classes have opened my mind. I would recommend Studio Yellow to everyone as the
