Saturday Art Workshops
-Updated Dec 2020-
(Studio address will be provided upon receipt of payment)
All Saturday workshops are suitable for ADULTS or CHILDREN (aged 9 -17).
Spend your precious Saturday doing something you want to do, rather than all the things you think you should be doing.
Hobbies are the first thing to drop off the list when you have a hectic schedule. But there is a good reason to keep them high on the priority list – hobbies can actually help relax, exercise your creative thinking skills and add some fun to your life.
Spending time learning something – anything – is both personal and professional development.
When you nurture yourself, everyone around you benefits too.
Extend your Art knowledge with 3 (or 4) hours of pure JOY. While some topics are repeated, the timetable for Saturday Workshops is updated regularly. These one-off art lessons will continue to inspire you, long after you leave. Held in Manly West near Wynnum, the aim of Saturday Art Workshops is focus on a specific topic or Art media. These workshops are perfect for those who are not available to attend weekday classes and are also designed to complement and extend on the content covered in the Art Mentoring Program.
Special FAMILY offer: Parents or Carers are invited to enjoy a discounted rate when enrolling with a special person in their life aged 9 - 17. Enjoy a unique and bonding experience that will be remembered forever.
With all our workshops, unless otherwise stated, absolutely no prior experience is necessary or expected! In just one session you will 'make and take' an Artwork that you have created yourself (with as much or as little support from the workshop facilitator as you desire).
These workshops are also popular for Hens or Bucks Parties, Baby Showers, Birthdays, Team building activity, or Christmas party. Studio Yellow can also travel to your location for a small extra fee.
*If Art or Art Therapy counts as Professional Learning for you, evidence of your learning
(Certificate of Participation and Tax Invoice) will be provided upon application.
Here is what's on offer for TERM ONE, 2020
1. All NEW, Painted Paper Collage - Saturday, Feb 8, 2020
(Presented by Natalie Lynch)
In this workshop, you will be shown how to make your own unique coloured, patterned paper that is better than any store-bought paper. Then you will be introduced to simple yet effective collage techniques so that you can compose you own your artwork.
This process can be adapted to suit any subject matter including animals, landscapes, still lifes, and even portraits. You’ll be amazed at how ‘shapes of colour’ can be used to create amazing paper paintings.
You’ll be guided step-by-step so you will learn how to develop a composition that you’re proud of. Those with some Art confidence will be encouraged to work more independently if they desire.
Just like in life, collage is all about arranging individual pieces to create harmony and like humans, we are all made up of layers. I'm sure this workshop will open your mind to a whole new world of creative experimentation and exploration. Absolute beginners are welcome. No Drawing ability required.
Time: 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm (4 hours)
Price: $115 per person- includes all materials, resources and equipment or sign up with a teenager for $175 (includes all materials and resources for two, one person under 18 years of age and one person over 18!!!).
Tea/coffee is also provided.
2. BLOCK PRINTING – Saturday, Feb 22, 2020 (Back by popular request - Sold out, in 2019!)
(Presented by Natalie Lynch)
Learn a new form of meditation by turning your ideas into block prints. For me, the focus and concentration required to hand-card the rubber block is very relaxing and I love that afterwards I end up with, multiple copies of your gorgeous and unique artwork to sell or share with family and friends.
Blocking printing is a versatile process that can be done at home without a lot of space or an expensive Printing Press. You’ll learn how to turn any image into a bold design full of contrast and pattern as I guide you through every step from the initial design to the finished product. Take your inspiration from Nature (images supplied) or you are welcome to bring images on another topic. Remember, you will be able to use your block again and again at home to produce Art prints, unique greeting cards or bespoke stamps for your other Art projects.
If you were lucky enough to have made a linocut at school, you will truly enjoy re-engaging with this printmaking process and taking it to a whole new level.
By the end of the session, you'll have a finished artwork ready to frame and a hand-carved block to keep and re-use.
Whether you're expanding your Art repertoire or an absolute beginner, you’ll be guided and supported a little or a lot depending on your wishes, with honest advice and feedback.
Learn to breathe, relax and carve!
(Like in life, it’s time to carve away the parts that are not needed and keep the parts you like?)
Time: 12:30 – 4:30 pm (4 hours will fly by like a dream)
Cost: $115 per person- includes all materials, resources and equipment or sign up with a teenager for $175 (includes all materials and resources for two, one person 12-18 years of age and one person over 18!!!).

3. Little books of gratitude - Saturday, March 7, 2020 (Back by popular request - Sold out, in 2019!)
(Presented by Natalie Lynch)
In this guided workshop you will learn how you can intuitively use Art materials to represent your ideas. Creating with mixed-media, this experience will help you to explore and capture what you are grateful for in your life. By the end of the session, you will have finished your first ‘little-book’ that can be saved as a keepsake for yourself or given as a gift to a loved one. All abilities will be catered for and you will be given the freedom to choose colours and symbols that are meaningful to you.
