Description

Cyanotype printing is a fun way to create beautiful artworks using the magic of the sun.

During this workshop, you’ll discover one of the oldest photographic printing processes in the history of photography but you won’t be using a camera.

Experimenting with Cyanotype, or sun prints, is a wonderful way to explore all the shapes and patterns that exist in the world around you AND develop your awareness and understanding of the 5 elements of art (Line, Shape – positives and negatives, Colour – beautiful Cyan Blue, Tone and Texture).

This workshop promises to be an afternoon of spontaneous artmaking suitable for all ages and abilities because it’s a process that requires a willingness to be experimental. Invented in 1842, it is a non-toxic process and very simple once you know the basics. The results are unpredictable and surprising because we use the sun as our UV light source. Not knowing exactly how your final print will look is part of the lure!

Facilitated by Irene (@the.ink.lounge), and myself, you will have the opportunity to make multiple prints on quality paper. You’ll also be shown lots of ways to extend this exciting photographic printing process, AND given extra sheets of ‘prepared’ paper so can keep creating at home.

This workshop is also available for a private group booking (Maximum of 10 people). If you’d like extra time to make your group booking a truly ‘social event’, you are welcome to use my private outdoor courtyard, before or after the session (for a small extra fee per hour).
