Blocking printing is a versatile process and is one of the few printing processes that can be done at home without a lot of space or an expensive Printing Press.

You’ll learn how to turn simple drawings (or any image) into a bold design full of contrast and pattern.  I guide you through every step from the initial idea/design phase to the finished product. By the end of the session, you’ll have one or more finished artworks ready to frame and a hand-carved block to keep and re-use.

Take your inspiration from Nature (images supplied) or you are welcome to bring images on another topic. You’ll learn the skills you need to produce Artist prints, unique greeting cards or bespoke stamps for use in other Art projects. Once carved, the block (stamp) can be used to make multiple copies of your design that can also be individually unique artworks. It’s a great process that allows you to keep some and share others with family and friends.

My workshops are always open-ended learning experiences, so if you were lucky enough to have made a linocut at school, you will truly enjoy re-engaging with this printmaking process and taking it to a whole new level.

The focus and concentration required to hand-carve a Block is always very therapeutic. Like in life, it’s an opportunity to carve away the parts that are not needed and keep the parts you like?

Whether you’re expanding your Art repertoire or you’re an absolute beginner, you’ll be guided and supported a little or a lot depending on your wishes, with honest advice and feedback.

Gift yourself the time to learn, breathe, relax and carve!
