I am a bachelor qualified art educator who has a wealth of experience in teaching adults and children of all ages so I can tailor my classes to meet your individual needs to help you feel relaxed and supported every step of the way.

Studio Yellow is the culmination of a long-held desire, to help adults, connect with their own creativity and develop the skills and confidence needed to make art and nurture good mental health.

Studio Yellow caters for all levels. I can help the most tentative of beginners take that very first step toward art-making or inspire those with some experience to further develop the skills you already have.

Remember, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. (Albert Einstein)

It’s time to find your purpose!

In 2009 I became a widow and single parent, after 22 years of marriage. One tragic event changed my life overnight. My husband lost his battle with depression and I started my own battle – ‘How to live on without him’.

It made me look at life in a whole new way. I had to make some really big decisions and I had to consider the needs of my children as we all grieved.

One day at a time I learned how to function in my new reality. I also learned a lot about myself and how my needs mattered. To earn a living and be a good mum, I discovered I needed to schedule in time to nurture my soul. Art has always been a natural part of my life…but suddenly, during this time, it became my therapy.

It has been quite a journey!

After 30 years of teaching Art to students in both State and Independent Schools. I am now passionate about teaching adults, not only how to make art, but more importantly WHY to make art.

During my career, I have learned so much from the children and teenagers in my classes. I love watching them discover “I can do it” and I am always amazed by the endless possibilities and hours of enjoyment that can come from some basic materials and equipment when mixed with a little know-how.

I find it incredibly sad to see so much of our innate creative self-expression falls by the wayside as we grow up so I encourage everyone I meet to engage in some form of Art-making.

I created Studio Yellow because I know how much Art helps people process their feelings and because it’s also a lot of fun, it brings joy back into our daily lives.

I know life gets busy but, as adults, if we put off doing the things we love it can have a significant impact on our health and wellbeing.

I help adults find their creative spark and discover who they are. I believe we all should be sketching and painting, printing, or sculpting our way toward fulfillment. Through Art-making, we can connect with our thoughts or take a break from our ‘work’ and find peace.

Art really is for everyone!

I was once told, “Everyone needs someone to love, something to do and something to look forward to.” When you hit a rough patch in your life this is absolutely true so I hope that you will join me at Studio Yellow so with my help you can start to achieve all three.
